Synthesis of colorimetric sensors for isomeric dicarboxylate anions: selective discrimination between maleate and fumarate.

Four new colorimetric receptors (1-4) were synthesized and characterized. Upon addition of maleate to receptor in DMSO, the appearance of the solution of receptor 1 showed a color change from dark-blue to dark-red, which can be detected by the naked eye at parts per million. Similar experiments were repeated using receptors 2-4; the solution showed a distinct color change from blue to violet fo...

A Dual colorimetric and Fluorometric Anion Sensor Based on Polymerizable 1, 8-Naphthalimide Dye

A new polymerizable fluorescent sensor based on the photoinduced electron transfer PET for the selective determination of fluoride ions in DMF solutions has been synthesized. The sensing system was prepared by incorporating 4-Amino-1,8-naphthalimide derivatives containing thiourea side chain at the amino moiety AFTN as a neutral F- selective flourophore and was characterized by use of the DSC, ...

Sensing Activity of a New Generation of Thiourea-based Receptors; A Theoretical Study on the Anion Sensing

A theoretical density functional theory (DFT) study was performed on a series of the neutral N-phenylthiourea substituents (p-OC2H5, p-CH3, m-CH3, H, p-Cl, p-Br, m-Cl, and p-NO2) as the sensor of acetate and fluoride anions. The hydrogen bond character was analyzed as a scale ...

An easy assembled fluorescent sensor for dicarboxylates and acidic amino acids

Two mesitylene based neutral receptors 1 and 2 bearing two thiourea binding sites were constructed as fluorescent probes for sensing dicarboxylates. Their binding affinities toward dicarboxylates, aspartate and glutamate have been investigated in acetonitrile solution by fluorescence titration experiments. Both fluorescent sensors exhibited some ability to discriminate the antipodal forms of as...

A novel thiourea-based dual fluorescent anion receptor with a rigid hydrazine spacer.

[structure: see text] A neutral receptor with a rigid hydrazine spacer, N-p-(dimethylamino)benzamido-N'-phenylthiourea, was prepared, and its dual fluorescence in acetonitrile was found to show response toward the presence of anions such as AcO(-), H(2)PO(4)(-), HSO(4)(-), Br(-), Cl(-), F(-), and ClO(4)(-) with high sensitivity and selectivity toward AcO(-).
